Erin McDonald Divens won one of our contests a few weeks ago (see, people really do win)!...however, there is more to this story than a giveaway winner claiming her SHINE. Here are Erin's words, just after she won: "My mom and I were very close. In the spring of 2012, my mom started having strange symptoms of lack of mobility on her left side. After some tests, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. By August 2012, her condition had really worsened. Her voice, which once was a beautiful alto voice, which she used to sing beautiful songs to my two-year-old daughter and newborn son, had become monotone. She couldn't finish knitting the baby blanket for my son, who was born just a couple months prior (the blanket still sits in a box, half knitted), and she could no longer walk or move herself around, as she was entirely paralyzed on her left side. We insisted that she get a second opinion. After an emergency room visit, extensive testing, and brain surgery to remove what they discovered was actually a large tumor, she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer and her life expectancy was just months. In October 2012, she passed away. My mom had accepted Christ over 30 years prior, but in her last days, she had a renewed fervor for the Lord. A few weeks ago, my dad was trying to find scripture to get inscribed on her headstone, and he wanted "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." After I spent time looking through her Bible, I found that very verse written in her handwriting in the first couple blank pages. This was in the days surrounding her birthday, which was July 24th. I immediately thought how cool it would be to have the verse inscribed on the cuff bracelet! It was totally a "God Thing" that you offered the contest for the handwriting cuff bracelet right at that same time! And then for me to win? Whoa! I was so shocked! My birthday was August 3rd! My thoughts: "Mom, did you have something to do with this??? Thank you, Jesus!" I am so grateful to you all for this incredible blessing! Your company is indeed a ministry, and I pray that God continues to bless you!" ~~~ I mean seriously y'all. Goosebumps. Every. Where. Feeling pretty stinkin blessed to be able to make such meaningful pieces for you guys AND see God's story unfold in the sweetest ways
